The Easiest PB Banana Smoothie

My favourite smoothie chain is definitely Jugo Juice. I've tried a huge chunk of their menu, and every drink I have from them leaves a sweet taste in my mouth. One of my favourite Jugo Juice drinks is the PB Protein smoothie. It's 440 calories for a delicious combination of chocolate whey protein powder, banana, peanut butter and unsweetened chocolate almond milk. If only you could make it at home...

I unknowingly made a variation of this drink last week when my boyfriend asked me to make him a smoothie before bed. He needs around 300 calories worth of food to go with a sleeping medication he takes, and I'm always trying to help him find healthier alternatives to corner store junk food. I grabbed a frozen banana, a couple scoops of peanut butter, followed by some unsweetened almond milk and a little honey to bring it just over the required 300 calories.

When I stopped to grab a Jugo Juice a couple days ago, I realized just how close my recipe had been to the PB Protein - and how much money I could be saving on my smoothie addiction! I decided that I would buy the same ingredients they listed on their menu, and see if I could come up with something similar. Guess what - it worked! I love both recipes, but if I'm being honest, I actually liked my original recipe better. I've posted both recipes below for you to try - the battle of the peanut butter smoothies is on!

PB Honey Smoothie
Makes one serving
-1 frozen banana
-2 Tablespoons peanut butter
-1 Tablespoon honey
-1-2 cups of unsweetened plain almond milk

PB Protein Jugo Juice Style
Makes one serving
-1 frozen banana
-2 Tablespoons of peanut butter
-1 Tablespoon honey
-1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder (you can put a full scoop but personally I usually just put half)
-1 cup unsweetened chocolate almond milk

Toss all ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth and creamy. Enjoy!

For peanut butter, I use the Earth Balance creamy peanut butter, and for almond milk I use Almond milk (unsweetened for both the plain and chocolate). For protein powder I use the Vega chocolate flavour protein and greens (all items pictured below).

If you give them a shot, let me know which smoothie is your favourite! Comment below with your answer.

With love,
